My name is Edith Kagoyire, a widow. My husband, parents and siblings were killed during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Also, all our properties were looted and destroyed. After the genocide, I lost my mind, was traumatized, couldn’t sleep or think properly. I was always crying, had deep sorrow in my heart. I didn’t know how I would live or raise my children alone. I wished I had died too. Later, I met with other genocide widows in Shalom Ministries whom we shared same problems. I found that they had peace because of getting together and pray. I shared my story with them and they listened to me. By joining Shalom Ministries I got saved and found that there is peace in our Lord Jesus Christ. Then I started recovering psychologically till I got my peace and joy of living back. This helped me come back to normal life. God has helped me found a job that I could take care of my children, pay for their education and now three of them have graduated from college. By God’s grace I managed to build two houses, I live in one and another is rented. If had not known Shalom Ministries, I could have been a desperate widow. Now I have peace with myself and I have forgiven those who killed my husband and members of family.
